As I told in an earlier story, the circumstances surrounding our birth were not the greatest for my siblings and me.
Our birth Mom did her best to shield and protect us from the hot sun, but you can only do so much in a swampy bog. It was hot and humid, with nasty bugs, mosquitos, worms, and mud.
My sister, Okee, the runt of our litter, had a bad infection on her backside around the base of her tail. Our rescuers said that she almost didn’t make it. But, she is a fighter and pulled through just fine.
When we were eight weeks old, we were adopted into our forever homes. Thankfully, Okee went to live with my human’s brother, which meant that we would see each other again.
Well, that day finally came. It was a complete surprise. We were on another road trip to Edisto, a place I had never been. I was experiencing so many new things that I never dreamed meeting up with my sister was also planned.
The day she came to visit, my humans played it up by telling me I would have a special surprise. Finally, I saw a car that I didn’t recognize park in front of where we were staying. G’Mama (my human) made me sit out on the porch waiting. Pops (my other human) had his camera out. I don’t know if you realize how hard it is for a four-month-old puppy to sit still, but I did my best.

Then I saw her. Could it be? Okee? I about busted through the screen trying to get to her and give her licks and kisses. She was still somewhat small, but she had not lost her feisty spirit.
Oh, the fun we had reliving old times when we were all together. We walked with our humans, chased an armadillo, ran around like wild children, and wrestled until we collapsed. One thing about being a puppy is that right in the middle of all that activity, we could just stop and lay down for a nap. In a few minutes, we would be back at it. And that’s what we did until she walked out the door to go home.
I love my forever home and new pack, but it was so much fun seeing my sister again, and knowing we will see each other often.
Both of us wonder how our brothers are doing. G’mama got pictures of them with their new packs. They look happy and are growing into handsome fellas for sure. Duncan is now Pooh because his young human companion is named Winnie. Malcolm has been given the name of Bandit. He kinda’ looks the part, too.
Hopefully, we will all have a family reunion with Astrid, our birth Mom soon.
Well, that’s it for now. Standby for more Willow Tales, y’all.
Until then, Face licks to all -
Willow
