When I first started this Substack journey last year, I dug out a folder I had kept (and forgotten about) for decades and pulled out some of the things I wrote way back in the day. Originally written in spiral notebooks, I’m surprised I still had it.
The story:
One of the things our Creative Writing Professor had us write was impromptu, almost frivolous short poems on whatever came to mind (literally) at that moment. He would give us one or two minutes to come up with something. Amazing how that jumpstarts the brain …
Below is a photo of an original notebook page I found, with one of these exercises, written on May 15, 1980, and includes the professor’s comments.
By the way - Don’t call me “Corky” or I will come and “git you” …
Happy Friday - have a great weekend. And don’t forget to look up and give thanks.
