Poems from the Past: Bits and Pieces
Spring 1981, Eugene, OR
The Story behind this short poem:
I practically lived in the High Street Coffee Gallery (and eventually worked there) across the alley behind where I lived in Eugene, OR. A lot of writing was done in that place, fueled by tons of coffee.
Today’s poem reflects my thoughts on things I would hear. It showed me that no matter what political persuasion or philosophy of life one embraces, human behavior is basically the same.
It made me long for genuine and stimulating conversation.

Bits and Pieces
Bits and pieces of conversation that I hear.
You know the ones
They make life so dear.
-
Approving voices,
Condemnation,
A mere putdown,
A standing ovation.
-
All this talk,
Yet nothing is said,
Unmarried words,
Waiting to wed.
-
Simple words,
Their meaning clear,
Are the only bits and pieces
I wish to hear.

When you open up with let's talk about the real issues about how nearly everything in this world is an illusion and a lie, are you aware of the futility of politics? Greed? TV programming? Propaganda? The psychological mind warfare & control upon the masses? Do you know the truth about the world and why you are even in it? About why there is evil, and there is an entire other supernatural dimension of two kingdoms and most are under the power of darkness & the evil one? Why there is pain and suffering. Are you in pain? Is your brain shattered and your heart aching and broken? Why do so many not care? Why are so many people willing to follow and be influenced by others around them? Why are they afraid to die while still living? Die to the ideologies of this world. Do you know how you can be set free? Be emancipated from your mental slavery. Be emancipated from being a slave to Egypt to Babylon to the saystem, satans system and how to get to the wilderness & God's promised land and rest. Why do people comply to being part of the racing rats upon hamster wheels of indoctrination. Why do people want to present an image? I don't get it? I don't understand why such inane shallowness is even appealing. It makes no sense. Does it make sense to you? Why do people want to copy other people? What prevents them from thinking laterally and differently than the majority? Why do people live in debt? Why don't they wait until they can afford an expensive purchase like a car instead of getting it on credit? Why do people think they have to have a TV? Who told them that they do? Do they even understand why the TV is a clever tool in distracting one from thinking about the real questions of life. Like who created you? Why are you here? What is your purpose? Didn't you ask these things when you were 5? I certainly did? Why can't people think beyond this construct presented to them as this banal normal? Did you know Jesus completely went against the grain of worldly programming? As did those who followed him and became his disciples. How amazing is that? Did you know you can to? Why do people think the way the majority of people in the west live is in any way normal? Why do people allow the majority to influence them? What are they so afraid of? No matter what circles they run in? And that's exactly it they are only running around in circles! Or groups they partake of? Wether that be a religious institutional group think, or whatever social club they may want to be part of. Why do they want to be part of it in the first place? Don't they question these things? Don't they want to find out? Especially those whom say they love live for and follow Jesus Christ. Why don't they then do what he asks of them? Why do they make excuses for not obeying what he enables them to do in the first place? Why font they want to? Don't they care? Why do they say do then? Whom are they really lying to? Did you know most cities and towns are built and constructed by the builders the stone masons. The freemasons they purposefully built on laylines especially places of commerce, do you know why? Did you know Jesus said the The stone which the builders rejected the same Is become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD's doing; It is marvellous in our eyes. This is the day which the LORD hath made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. You see that's the entire problem the word rejects Jesus and God Heavenly father. They think they can construct better than their own maker Creator and think they are gods and become their own gods......
People can't cope with these things? Why I honestly don't know. Maybe you can help me know why?
